Northwestern Visits Breast Cancer Survivorship Center

Vincent Cryns, MD, Director of the Breast Cancer Survivor Comprehensive Care, Empowerment and Education Program (SUCCEED) at Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center at Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital, came to Kansas City on December 1, to meet with staff of the Breast Cancer Survivorship Center at the University of Kansas Cancer Center and Back in the Swing.

Dr. Cryns came with the goal of learning how the Center’s model for comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, clinical care could be replicated within his breast cancer survivorship program called SUCCEED (Survivor's Comprehensive Care, Empowerment and Education), the first of its kind in Chicago. The parties also discussed the potential of collaborative research on breast cancer survivorship.

In a news interview with NBC Acton News, Dr. Cryns stated, "They’ve (KU) put together a unique program that brings cardiologists and oncologists together to work on cardiovascular health for breast cancer survivors."

Back in the Swing is collaborating with aligned organizations and partners to support centers, such as Dr. Cryns’, as the organization holds fundraising/awareness-building events in Chicago and across the country.
